Frequently asked questions about eyelash extensions
One of the most common questions I hear all the time is, "Are lash extensions safe, will they make my natural lashes fall out?" The simple answer to this is yes, they are 100% safe as long as your lash tech knows what they are doing and putting the extensions on correctly.
However, everyone’s experience is different with lashes. Some clients can wear lashes for years and not experience any breakage in their natural lashes. Some clients have weaker natural lashes and will notice breakage in their natural lashes over time. To ensure to greatest retention level you should make sure you are cleaning your lashes regularly. If you are a client with thinner natural lashes to begin with you can use a lash growth serum that works concurrently with lash extensions. Factors such as pulling, rubbing, touching, or sleeping face down on your lash extensions can potentially cause your natural lashes to come out with the lash extensions. It is very important to keep up with maintenance on your refills. As our natural lashes grow, this will cause our lash extensions to have less base support on the natural lash and cause the extension to cross or twist, which can potentially cause your
natural lash fall out.
how long will my extensions last?
It is different for each individual. We naturally lose one eyelash almost every day, however we also naturally grow a new lash to
replace the one that fell out. Factors such as eyelash growth, lifestyle and general after care will affect how long the lashes last. Another thing that will determine how long you can go between fills is the type of set you choose to go with (ie. classic, mixed, or volume.) Lash extensions can potentially last
up to 2-4 weeks. Do not wait until more than 40-50% of your lashes are gone to get filled as this will ensure that your next fill will be
at its maximum fullness. If you have lost more than 50% of your lashes when you come in for a fill, it will be considered a full set and you may have to be rescheduled to allot for the time needed. Please do not attempt to remove any lashes on your own, seek professional help from a technician.
Caring for your lash extensions
-Do not get your lash extensions wet for the first 24 hours.
-Avoid saunas and any other kind of steam for 48 hours after your appointment.
-Only use oil-free makeup remover. Using oil will loosen the bond of the glue and your lashes may fall out faster.
-Do not use mascara or attempt to use an eyelash curler on your lashes.
-Do not rub your eyes, or pull on your extensions. If possible, try to sleep on your back so your face is not buried in your pillow.
-NEVER ever cut your lashes!! If you do not like them, let me know and I can remove them for you at a small charge. (If you need them removed due to an allergy, they will be removed at no additional fee.)
